Leading up to the MNLA in April 2019, local presidents participated in focused discussion on MNS Constitutional reform. They identified 4 key areas:
The Constitution should be clear, easy to read and plain language
There needs to be ways which citizens to engage and resolve disputes
There should be a role for the guidance and advice of Elders and Senate
Processes should be clear and transparent, including how decisions are made and making sure there is time to consider all decisions and resolutions made at the MNLA.
As a Metis citizen, it is important that you are kept informed and have real opportunities to share your on what you want our constitution to look like. We will work together with citizens and communities through an open process of consultation.
It is important that the process is inclusive so that Metis citizens who want to provide input can.
We have provided all the background information that is shared at the consultations, so you may be informed. There is also a comment form to send your ideas.
